TRAINEE LICENCE


Once you have passed the ADI Part 2 test you could choose to apply to become a PDI (Potential Driving Instructor)
on a trainee licence.

You do not have to take this option; you can continue your training for the ADI Part 3 test without a trainee licence.

Advantage
It allows you gain practical experience by teaching real pupils. It can help to supplement some of your training.

Disadvantages
A ( Trainee Licence ) is that you only get 3 attempts to pass your part 3 exam & you must pass your test within 6 months. If you fail then your out of a job.

Rules and regulations for trainee licence

You have to be sponsored by an approved driving instructor or driving school

You have to receive 40 hours of training in preparation for ADI part 3 during 6 months before your trainee licence commences

The trainee licence is on valid for 6 months

You must either have a ‘“supervision”or “training option”

If you choose the supervised option ,20% of all lessons that are given must be supervised by an Approved Instructor

If you choose the training option you must have additional 20hrs of training during the first 3 months of the trainee licence,
or before you attempt the part 3 exam. If you fail you will have to have a further training.
